Travis G. Winfrey, 1207 Gold S.W., died Thursday in Socorro after a long illness.

Winfrey, 82, was a retired Santa Fe Railway employe. He came to Alburquerque in 1911 and operated a clothing store for several years before going to work for the Santa Fe. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the Knights of Pythius.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Grace Tierney of Albuquerque; a sister, Mrs. Lillie Henderson of Boren, Calif.; a grandson, Martin Tierney of Albuquerque; and a great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held in Greenville, Tex., with Strong-Thorne mortuary in charge.

Travis G. Winfrey, 82, retired railroad man and a former resident of Greenville, died at 5:30 o'clock Thursday morning in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he had made his home for many years.

The body will arrive in Dallas over the Santa Fe at 7:45 a.m. Saturday and will be brought to Greenville by James-Coker-Peters and taken to the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held at East Mount cemetery at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon with Rev. C.B. Fielder, pastor of Wesley Methodist Church officiating. The Knights of Pythias will have charge of services at the grave and members of the lodge will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Winfrey was born in Hunt County on August 29, 1874, the son of Charles Hayes Winfrey and Henrietta Hail Winfrey. He was married to Miss Rosa Nix in 1899 and one child was born to this union. Mrs. Nix died in 1904 and in 1908 he was married to Miss Mae Horton, who also preceded him in death.

During his residence here he was employed by the MKT railway. In 1908 he moved to Albuquerque where he was with the Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement in 1945.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the local Knights of Pythias Lodge.

Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Grace Tierney and a grandson, Martin Tierney, Albuquerque and several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Frank Terry, Mrs. Velma Russell, Mrs. Billie Blount and Mrs. Claude Martin of this city and Miss Helen Winfrey, of Dallas.
