She retired in 1988 from her job as a seventh and eighth
grade English teacher at Central Junior High School in
Belleville after 22 years of teaching .. She was a race walker
in the Senior Olympics, winning 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals,
4 fourth place ribbons and 8 Volksmarch medals for walking six
miles … She was a senior citizen volunteer at Belleville Area College
and the St. Clair County Court House …
She was preceded in death by her father, Allsie Jett and her mother,
Ada Grace (nee Allen) Callahan , a sister, Aloha Reimiller …
Surviving are her husband, Senior Olympian James Rainbolt Jr ;
three sons, James (Mickey) Rainbolt III of Schaumburg, Illinois, twins,
Robert and William Rainbolt, both of Belleville ; two daughters,
Kathleen Rainbolt of Fairview Heights and Dr. Rosemary Rainbolt of
St. Davids, Pennsylvania ; a sister, Josephine (James) Hoffman of
Greenville, Illinois ; a brother, Allsie (Grace) Jett of Caseyville, Illinois ;
15 grandchildren, Lisa Fill, formerly of Fairview Heights, Illinois, Suzanne
Rainbolt, Fairview Heights, Aaron and Anna Joy Rainbolt of Belleville, Elyse,
