Born in 1845 in Edgar County, Illinois to Isaiah Mainor/Maynor and Mary Cummins. She married George Stuart/Stuard from Jasper County, Illinois between 1860 and 1866. Her father died in Jasper County, so most likely she had relocated to that county with part of her family. She had at least 4 children with George Stuart. He died Apr 11, 1884 in Monona County (probably in Jordan Township) and is buried in the South Jordan Cemetery directly to the east. She then married John W. Wallace, Jan 14, 1885 in Magnolia, Harrison County, Iowa. His mother was Elizabeth Mowery, by her first marriage to James Wallace, and then she later married Cornelius Rickman. He was born in about 1859 and was living in Jordan township in 1870 with the Hutchinson family on a nearby farm. It is unknown currently what happened to John Wallace. It is possible he is buried next to Mary.

Age discrepancies

--In the 1850 census she is reported as being 5 years old. The census being taken in Oct 25, she already had her birthday so 1845 would be the year she was born. This should be the most accurate being closest to her birth.

--In the 1880 census it is reported she is 36. The census being taken Jun 2, 1880 should have been before her birthday, but the age 36 suggests 1848, which cannot be correct based on the 1850 census. She was probably 34 turning 35 within a few day actuality.

--When she married John Wallace in 1885, she reports her age as 35, which she was actually 39, She most likely lied about her age because John was so much younger than she was (25).

--On her death record in Monona County, it is also reported that she was 35 again. Which was 9-10 years younger than she actually was. She wouldn't have been in the 1850 census as a 5 year old if this was true.

--The gravestone says 43 yrs old, which is only one year off from the 1850 census. It suggests she would have been born in 1846 instead of 1845.

The other issue with the gravestone is her death date is 2 days before he death record. Either could be correct as the death records were not filled out for days after the death and sometimes the dates are off. Her death record says she died from "Phthisis Pert." which would be chronic wasting disease and may or may not have been Tuberculosis. It states she was buried Aug 19, 1890 in Jordan Twp.
