Son of William D. Swearingen and Sarah "Sallie" Ray.

Brother of Lemuel Swearingen. They lived in Scottsville, Allen Co, KY.

Samuel Swearingen, also a Texas Revolution soldier, is his first cousin.
Elemelech Swearingen
was the brother of William D. Swearingen. Both were children of Thomas B. Swearingen and Ruth Beall.

Arrived at Velasco January 28th, 1836 on the schooner Pennsylvania to fight for the freedom of Texas. A member of Captain Amasa Turner's Company at San Jacinto.
