Anna A. Campbell. 90, formerly of Alfred, New York, died on August 21, 1990, in Bethany Manor, Horseheads, New York, where she had resided for the past two years.
She was born on April 25, 1900, in Albany, New York, the daughter of John and Leona (Burdick) Merrill. She was married to Robert M. Campbell in Alfred on April 6, 1926; he died in 1975. She spent most of her life in Alfred, where her husband taught at Alfred University.
Anna was a graduate of the Albany (New York) Academy for Girls and Alfred University, class of 1923, with a major in ceramic design. Earlier, she had taught art in public schools in Troy, New York. She was a student of the late Katherine Nelson and studied under her for over 60 years.
She was a member of the Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church and was active for many years in its Ladies Aid Society. She was also a member of the Allen Civic Amandine Club of Alfred.
Survivors include one daughter, Merrillyn Barney of Endwell, New York; one son, Robert, of Clover, South Carolina; five grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Anna's memorial service was held on August 24, 1990, at the Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church, with the Rev. Leon Wheeler and the Rev. David Clarke officiating. Burial was in the Alfred Rural Cemetery.
