Lura Faye Burch Townsend, age 89, of Iowa Park, Texas, passed away Thursday morning, September 20, 2012, under the care of Hospice of Wichita Falls after a long battle of Alzheimer's disease.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012, in the Markley Cemetery in Markley, Texas, with Dr. Jon Eckstein of the First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park, officiating under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Lura was born February 25, 1923, in Markley, Texas, to Charlie F. Burch, Sr. and Amanda Henryetta Evans Burch.
She and George Sanders Townsend were married August 6, 1941, in Walters, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1995.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Archer City.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Davis and husband, Larry of Iowa Park; one son, Michael Townsend of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Lee Ann Klinkerman and husband, Wes of Cheney, Kansas, Jennifer Canafax of Iowa Park, Stephen Townsend of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tim Townsend and wife, Danielle of Phoenix, Arizona, and Michael Townsend; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Lura was also preceded in death by her son, Johnny W. Townsend on November 15, 1993; one sister, Edwinona Corral on January 24, 1994; infant brother, in July 1914; twin brother, Louis Ray Burch on March 17, 1933; bothers, Burl Burch on October 21, 1918, and Caharlie F. Burch, Jr. on October 25, 1998.
