He was born Feb 3, 1932, in Middleburg, a son of the late Homer H and Carrie (Musser) Walter. On Jan 16, 1969 he married the former Marlys Luno, who survives.
Mr Walter was a minber of Christ Church, Beaver Springs.
He was last employed by the former Beavertown Cast Stone. He had also worked at the Selinsgrove Center, drove a bus for the late Paul Gross, cared for the Adamsburg Cemetery, and had various other jobs through the years.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working with wood, fishing, hunting and watching birds.
Surviving, in addition to his wife are five children, Melinda J Meiser of RR1 Thompsontown, Deborah A Pyle of Middleburg, Roger A Walter of McAlisterville, Michelle "Mick" A Freed of Richfield, Mitzi J Royer of RR1 Middleburg; three stepchildren, Linda D Keister of RR1 Beavertown, Lisa N Zechman of RR1 Beaver Springs, and Rolland M Southern of Washington DC; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy, Alaina, Michael, Amber, Thomas, Jamie, Daniel, Brian, Christopher, Jessica, Megan, Carrie and Kaitlyn; 13 step grandchildren. Jeri, Brian, Kristin, Curt, Bradley, Taneka, Ashlee, Ryan, Erica, Daniel, Luke, Levi, and Miriam; and three sisters, Arla Smith of Westfield Terrace, Middleburg, Faye Walter of Beavertown and Carol Wallace of RR1 Beaver Springs.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Jr, in 2001.; one granddaughter, Courtney D Meiser, in 2000; one sister, Pauline Long,and one brother Earnest.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Christ Church, Beaver Springs.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tues at the church by the Rev. David Meekley.
Burial will be in Adamsville Cemetery.
