C. W. Lathrop died January 25 in Buda. He came to Bureau county in 1835 with his parents, from New York, and had resided in the county since that time. Mr. Lathrop was a Civil War veteran, having served in Co. F, 151st Illinois Infantry from Feb 13, 1865 (mustered in at Quincy, Il.) to Jan 24, 1866 (mustered out at Columbus, Ga.). He was a member of the G.A.R., which had charge of the funeral.

NOTE: Per the 1900 US Federal Census, Mr. Lathrop had married a 2nd time. It shows: wife, Rebecka Lathrop, born Oct 1830 in Indiana. She died 07 Jan 1905 in Buda, aged 74. Per Mr. Lathrop's Pension File when he died in 1909, his widow was Elizabeth Lathrop, so he must have married a 3rd time.
