Journalist, Author. He was an investigative journalist of the early 20th century who, while working first for the "New York Evening Post", then later "McClure's Magazine", exposed corruption in city and the federal government. He teamed with fellow journalists Ida Tarbell and Ray Stannard Baker to become famous as "muckrakers".
