A funeral for Herschel Carl King, 65, of Adel was held May 24, 1988 at Brandt Funeral Home at Dallas Center. Mr. King died of a heart attack at his home on May 21. Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery at Adel. The son of Carl and Lura King, he was born in Dallas Center on April 2, 1923 and had lived most of his life in the Adel area. He married Marcile Moon of Lineville on Jan. 4, 1945. He was well known for the many parades he participated in with his ponies and pony carts. He retired in 1985 from Windsor Windows in Des Moines. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
