Edgar County Depty Sheriff, Killed in the line of duty.
Deputy Landrum and Deputy Karl Farnham Jr. responded to a domestic disturbance call where an armed disturbed male subject was threatening to kill his dad and mom. The suspect fired several shots. Deputy Landrum and Deputy Farnham returned fire and killed the suspect. Deputy Landrum was shot and killed in the shootout. Deputy Farnham was uninjured in the incident.
Deputy Landrum's end of watch was on Feb 15, 1989 Valentines Day. Deputy Landrum was a veteran of 12 years and believed to be the first Edgar County Deputy to be shot and killed in the line of duty. Deputy Landrum's wife Kay Landrum was on duty at the Edgar County Jail as a matron when the incident happened. Sheriff Jack Hood retired Deputy Landrum's number 103 and put a memorial up of Deputy Landrum in the Edgar County Courthouse.
