Alfred L. Kennedy, 80 of Boise passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 with his family by his side.

Alfred was born in Cedar Bluffs, Kansas on July 31, 1932, to Edgar and Mable Kennedy. He was one of five children and grew up in Oberlin, Kansas.

Al married the love of his life, Wathena Diers, on November 15, 1952. In November, Al and Wathena would have been married 60 years. To this union were born three children: Debbie, Mark and Kristi.

Al worked for the Bureau of Reclamation for 38 years, retiring in December 1988. Al was a charter member of the Syringa Squares Dance Club. He and Wathena square danced for 43 years, making many dear friends throughout the years.

Al loved square dancing, camping, watching his wife bowl on the Friday Leftover League and spending time with his family. He always said "I may not have much money, but I am the richest man in the world, I have my family".

Al is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wathena; three children: daughter, Debbie Kennedy (Boise); son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Tami Kennedy (Boise), and their three children, Logan, Allison and Douglas; and daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Monty Chiles (Boise), and their two daughters, Kelli and Mackenzie.

Private inurnment will be at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery. A celebration of Al's life will be held at a later date.
