Edna Charlotte Deterding, the daughter of Anton F. and Mamie M. Smith Posvar, was born Sept. 25, 1911, at Flickville, Neb. She died April 29 at Parkview Haven Nursing Home, Deshler, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 4 days.

She was baptized June 27, 1913, by her grandfather, The Rev. Manliff C. Smith, at the Methodist Church, Hastings, and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Corder, Mo., Dec. 13, 1933, by Edward F. Schmidt.

She attended school at Shickley, Martland and graduated from Deshler High School in 1928. Sept. 3, 1933, she married Edgar Martin Louis Deterding at a farmhouse west of Deshler.

Mrs. Deterding was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Deshler; Women's Missionary League and St. Peter Women's Auxiliary; a member of Willing Homemakers Project Club; served on the advisory council of the Deshler Senior Citizens; and a member and former president of Deshler Women's Club. She was also a former Girl Scout leader and former secretary of Union Local AFFW, Deshler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton F. Posvar on June 30, 1931, and Mamie M. Posvar on April 1, 1958, and a sister, Erma Jean Tormey, Oct. 30, 1970.

She is survived by her husband, Edgar, Deshler; three sons, Don of Lincoln, Owen of York, and Roy of Burleson, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Don Calahan (Rosa) of Carleton, Mrs. Stanley Elledge (Kay) and Mrs. George Higer (Arlene), of Superior, and Mrs. Archie Nyen, jr. (Jean), Gladstone, Mo.; three brothers, Fred Posvar of Council Bluffs, Iowa, William Posvar of Deshler and Arthur Posvar, Salem, Ore.; three sisters, Florence Struve of Lincoln, Mrs. Walter Thieman (Adel), Hebron, and Mrs. Earl Hilterbrand (Mildred), Casper, Wyo.; 18 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 10 step great grandchildren.

The funeral was Saturday, May 3 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Deshler with the Rev. James Moll officiating. Interment was in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Deshler. Services were conducted by Ahrendts Funeral Home Associates, Deshler.
