Doing research on my Cain family. I find James in the 1850 Census living in Monroe County Mississippi. Census listed under Cane. He is living with his parents and seven siblings. James is the 5th child, his parents are John J Cain and Elizabeth "Eliza Brand Cain. In the 1860 Census they are living in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. James is 21 years of age and a farm labor. James listed in the Co A 17th Regt. Miss. on March 3rd 1862 under Capt.Frank Pullman. James had brothers also listed under the same Co. James reported died in Adams Co. Gettysburg PA. on July 2nd 1863. James never married or had any children.
