Chief Master Sgt. Luther Rose was from Howe, Grayson county, Texas.

While on a nightime mission, the following United States Air Force members of the 4th Air Commando Squadron were killed when their AC-47 "Spooky" gunship caught fire and crashed on 3 June 1966, in a heavily wooded area about 30 miles northeast of Tchepone in Khanouan province, Laos. The six USAF crew members were:
Col. Theodore E. KRYSZAK, Buffalo,NY; Col. Harding E. SMITH, LosGatos, CA; Lt.Col. Russell D. MARTIN, Bloomfield, IA; Chief Master Sgt. Ervin WARREN, Philadelphia, PA; Chief Master Sgt. Harold E. MULLENS, Denver, CO. and the aerial gunner Chief Master Sgt. Luther L. ROSE, Howe, TX. Their remains were unearthed in April, 1995, but only Chief Master Sgt. ROSE's remains were completely identified in April, 2003. They were then buried in a cemetery in Texas. However, since that time other bone fragments have been postively identifed and all the remains of all these men will now be interred at Arlington National Cemetery on 5 November 2004.
