US Congressman. Born in Clarksville, Arkansas, he graduated from the law department of Vanderbilt University, Tennessee, in 1887, was admitted to the bar the same year, commenced to practice in Morrillton, Arkansas and was prosecuting attorney of Conway County, (1894-98). In 1901, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-seventh Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1911. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he engaged in the practice of law in Little Rock, Arkansas, until his death at age 53.
