In 1830, while Michigan was still a territory, Daniel removed from their home in Williamstown, Massachusetts with his family to Monroe. His family was his father, mother, four brothers, and a sister. The family united with the Presbyterian Church of Monroe. Daniel was a merchant and for many years had a store on Washington and Front Streets. He later occupied a nice brick store on the corner of Monroe and First Streets. Daniel was well respected as a neighbor and businessman.
"A good man, a pure man"
Daniel married Julia Beach on December 10, 1834 in Monroe County, Michigan. They were the parents of eight children. Daniel later moved to Olivet ? about 1870. He was on a visit to Monroe, at his untimely death on May 16, 1875.
Four children preceded him in death. Three sons and a daughter survived him as well as his wife Julia.
