Feb. 19, 1903; Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette
Yesterday afternoon at about 3 o'clock occurred the sudden death of Mrs. Katherine Selzer, wife of Fred Selzer, residing a miles south of Fairfax. The deceased had been in poor health for nearly four years and was quite ill just before Christmas, but had recovered. She had eaten a hearty dinner and it was while seated at the table that she was seized with paralysis of the heart, and
she fell off the chair to the floor dead.
Mrs. Selzer was a native of Baden, Germany, and was born Aug. 31, 1856. She came to this country twenty-five years ago, settling in New York City. It was
there she was married to Fred Selzer nineteen years ago. For the past eight years they have resided in Iowa. Besides her bereaved husband and seven children, she is survived by two sons by a former marriage, Frank and Herman Witzleben. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 12:30, and services will be held at the Congregational church at Fairfax. The burial will be in the Fairfax
cemetery.
