Lena was the first of five children born to Fleming R. Moore and his wife, Angelina G. Walters. She married Charles E. Hartley, a son of Amos Hartley and his wife, Elizabeth McMillan. The couple exchanged wedding vows on April 25, 1894 in Milford (Iroquois County), Illinois. They had no children. Lena died in her home of a heart attack.
