Death Of Boynton Leach
Young Patent Solicitor Commits Suicide in Milwaukee
Mrs. Belle C. Leach of 1348 Fairmont Street Northwest, who received a telegram from Milwaukee yesterday announcing the death of her son Boynton Leach, formerly a patent solicitor of this city, had heard nothing further at a late hour this afternoon. She is prostrated with grief. The information received in this city is that Mr. Leach committed suicide by inhaling illuminating gas at his boarding house Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Leach has ordered the body shipped to Gawler’s Undertaking Establishment at 1734 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest. According to information received here two sealed letters were found in the young man’s pockets. One was addressed to his mother and was mailed by the coroner. Up to a late hour this afternoon it had not arrived at the family residence.

Funeral services will probably be held Saturday afternoon at the residence. Bishop elect Harding will officiate. The interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Boynton Leach was twenty-seven years of age. He was a patent solicitor in this city until two years ago when he went to Milwaukee. He did not prosper in his new field and he returned to Washington last March much discouraged. He remained with his mother for several weeks, when he again went back to Milwaukee in an effort to gain success at his profession.

Mother’s Illness Delays Funeral
Services Over Remains of Boynton Leach Will Be in St. Paul’s
Funeral services for Boynton Leach, the young attorney who committed suicide last Tuesday in his boarding house at Milwaukee, will be held either Saturday or Sunday in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Twenty-third Street Northwest. The condition of Mrs. Belle C. Leach, mother of the young man, has been such that it has not yet been possible to make any definite arrangements.

Boynton Leach was well known in Washington, where he had lived all his life until two years ago. At that time he moved to Milwaukee for the purpose of practicing law, having been very successful in Washington. Business affairs did not go smoothly with him and he returned to Washington last March discouraged at his failure. Later, however, he returned to Milwaukee.

Mrs. Leach, his mother, had been away on a pleasure trip and the news of her son’s death, upon her return, completely prostrated her. She has not yet been told, however, that he committed suicide. Before turning on the gas, Mr. Leach wrote several letters, one of which was addressed to his mother. In this letter, it is believed the young man has given the reasons for taking his life.
