Mildred Weis Porter, 98, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood.
Visitation will be tonight from 5 until 7 at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 3 p.m. at the Oliver chapel in Winona with burial to follow in the Vaiden Cemetery. Dr. Glenn Seefeld will officiate the services.
Mrs. Porter was born August 15, 1914 to the late Jacob and Lois Gaston Weis in Vaiden. She was a graduate of Vaiden High School and Draughon's Business College. She was retired from the Social Security Administration in Greenwood. Her nieces and nephews will remember her as their beloved auntie.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert Edward (Bobby) Porter; two sisters, Mary Weis Farmer and Ruth Weis Flournoy; infant brother, William Jacob Weis; and two nephews,Bruce Flournoy and Travis Cox.
Mrs. Porter is survived by her sister, Katherine Melton of Vaiden; four nieces, Terraseta Hummel (Don) of Greenwood, Camille Brown (Gary) of New York, Carol Ely of Timberlake, N.C., and Janet Flournoy (Alan) of London, England; and two nephews, Stuart Flournoy of Newport News, Va., and Joseph Melton of Ridgeland.
