F. W. Anderson enlisted in Co. E, 2nd Reg't Louisiana Infantry on May 9, 1861 at New Orleans for 12 months. Shortly thereafter he was transferred to Co. H, then Co. F where he remained until the March/April 1862 report. In May/June 1862 he was reported as sick in hospital but now in Co. I. His status remained the same through August 1863, when his unit was finally advised that he had died on May 25, 1862, in Robertson Hospital, Richmond, VA. Since he was apparently not transferred to Company I until after his death, he could be shown in Company F where most of his service was spent.
