This is a cenotaph for Alfred Young, placed upon the grave of his wife, Sephalina Manuel. Though Alfred's actual burial place has not been located as of April 2014, it is thought that he may have been buried in the Lafleur-Savoy Cemetery in Savoy, several miles east of Eunice, or in the Chataignier area.
His death in 1893 was the result of a hunting accident. According to family lore, he fell out of a tree and died after lingering for several days.
