Mrs. Charles J. Lewis of 417 Gordon Street died Sunday at St. Joseph's Infirmary in Atlanta.
Mrs. Lewis was the wife of the late Charles J. Lewis. She had lived in LaGrange since 1924. She was born in Chambers County, Ala. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church here. She was interested in civic activities as well as church work. She was a past member of the Garden Section of the Woman's Club, a member of the Maidee Smith Sewing Club of the First Methodist Church. For many years she was editor of the Shuttle, a newspaper covering activities of the community of Southwest LaGrange.
Survivors: a daughter, Miss Sara Lewis of LaGrange; three sons, H. Frank Lewis of LaGrange, Handley H. Lewis of Cartersville and Col. David R. Lewis of Langley Air Force Base, VA; a sister, Mrs. C.M. Goforth of LaGrange; 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Burial will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Heard County.
