Edgar and Shirley Meister

Funeral services for Edgar and Shirley Meister of Chadron will be Thursday, Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. at Ridgeview Bible Church in Chadron with Pastor Randy Dockweiler officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.Shirley Meister died in a traffic accident Aug. 12. in South Dakota. Edgar Meister died Aug. 14 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.Edgar Meister was born in Forreston, Minn, June 3, 1924; and Shirley, his loyal and loving wife of 59 years, was born in Pratt, Minn, Nov. 27, 1925.Their wedding was performed on July 28, 1946, in Owatonna, Minn. Edgar and Shirley began their life together in Adams, Minn as farm managers.They were long time residents of Chadron. Edgar and Shirley established the Meister Dairy Farm east of Chadron in 1954 because of the need for milk at the Staska Dairy. They retired to a lovely home in the city of Chadron in 1994.Both Edgar and Shirley were highly involved in a number of community services. Edgar was a 12-year member of the Alpha School District #3. They were founding members of the Eager Beavers 4-H Club and members of Dawes County Farm Bureau, where Edgar served on the Board of Directors. They were members of the Mountain Empire Dairy Association where Edgar served on the Board of Directors.Shirley and Edgar enriched the lives of others through their service in Ridgeview Bible Church, which was their first love for 35 years. They were active members of RSVP, Gideons International, and CSC mentoring.The Lord blessed Edgar and Shirley with long, full lives and both were the last surviving members of each of their families.
Edgar and Shirley are survived by three daughters, Carol Spencer and husband Larry of Baton Rouge, La.; Nancy Ohlmann and husband Robert of Bladenboro, N.C.; Trudy Davis and husband Preston of Sterling, Colo.; and one son, David Meister and wife Dawn of Chadron; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grand-children.
