Phyllis J. Fry
January 20, 1931 – April 10, 2010

Phyllis J. Fry, 79, departed this life Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez, CO with her daughters and granddaughter by her side. Phyllis, who was the youngest of six children, was born January 20, 1931 to Ova and Blanch (Raddish) Coggin at Flora, IL where she lived on the family farm and attended schools. On December 24, 1947 she married Paul E. Fry and this began their journey following the oilfields. Paul and Phyllis moved to Abilene, TX where two of their daughters, Paula and Pam, were born. They also lived in Austin and San Antonio, from there they moved to Cortez, CO where to their surprise their youngest daughter, Patricia was born. They also lived in Moab, Utah for a short time, moving back to Cortez, then onto Vernal, Utah, Grand Junction, CO and Deer Trail, CO where Paul passed away in 2002. At this time, Phyllis moved back to Cortez. During their journey through life Phyllis contributed to the family by working at many different occupations which she enjoyed and including working at the Elks Club in Cortez, and working with the developmentally disabled in Grand Junction. On her return to Cortez and reuniting with old friends Phyllis volunteered at the Cortez Cultural Center, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Phyllis loved "Her" Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies hardly ever missing one of their games on TV. She loved to read, complete crossword puzzles and play games on her computer. Surviving Phyllis are her two daughters, Paula of Cortez, and Pam Carnahan and husband, Chris of Aurora, CO; her granddaughter, Tari of Parachute, CO; and by her brother, Kenneth Coggin of Flora, IL. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Mike; her daughter, Patricia; and by her husband, Paul. Services are pending and will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions in Phyllis' memory may be made to the Cortez Cultural Center or charity of one's choice. Arrangements are being made through Ertel Funeral Home.
