"Mr. Delos W. "Lossie" Jones, 78, of Millers Corners Road, died Thursday, November 9th at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a long illness. Mr. Jones was born October 23, 1928 in Esperance, NY, a son of Raymond and Charlotte (Becker) Jones. He had lived in the Town of Florida for most of his adult life. He was educated at Schoharie School and later began his farming career. For many years, he operated his dairy farm in the Town of Florida until selling the cows in the 1980's. "Lossie" was member of the Town of Florida Fire Department. He also enjoyed hunting during his early years. Survivors include: his wife, Viola (Covey) Jones and 3 children; James (Diane) Jones, of Amsterdam, Donna (Richard) Funk, of Delanson, and Joyce (Kenneth) Korona, of Amsterdam. 2 Sisters, Cora Covey, of Millers Corners and Edna Merry, of Hagaman. 5 Grandchildren; James Jones, Jr, Tammy Bond, Richard Funk, Jr, Kenneth Korona, Jr, and Theresa Dunn. 7 Great-grandchildren; Brianna Jones, Josh and Daniel Murdie, Hunter and Hailey Funk, Summer Korona, and William Dunn. Several nieces and nephews also survive. "Lossie" was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tonya Jones along with a brother, Nelson Jones and 4 sisters, Alice Fuller, Jennie Beacraft, Lily Wessell, and Maida Gouthy. Calling hours will be held from 7-9 PM on Friday evening, November 10th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main Street, Schoharie. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Sloansville Valley Cemetery, Sloansville. Reverend Steffen A. Zehrfuhs, Pastor of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Jones to the Town of Florida Fire Department, St. Rte.30, Minaville, NY 12010.
