Merritt. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church at Harlan for Mrs. Alvira Merritt, 88, a life-long resident of Harlan who died Friday night at the home of a granddaughter at Pleasant Hill, O. Burial will be in the Harlan cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Joseph Merritt of Hartford City; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Jane Shimp, 92, of Long Beach, Cal., and Mrs. Christina Stone, 77, of this city; and a brother, A. Miller, 92, of Harlan.
Alvira and her husband, Milon also had three known daughters: Cora Anne Merritt-Conway, Alice V. Merritt-Clements and Della Merritt.
