LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, April 13, 1989, p.4. 'Adrian P. Chandler, 71, of Houston, formerly of Blossom, died Wednesday, April 5, at Herrman Hospital there. Services were held Saturday, April 8, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wilbur Simmons officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted at Union Grove Cemetery. Mr. Chandler was born Sept, 30, 1917, in Bentley, La., a son of Oscar Charles and Mary Frazier Chandler. He married Blanche Rhinehart on Sept. 21, 1971, in Houston. She died Oct. 8, 1987. He was a Baptist and was retired from the Marines. He served in World War II and served five years in a concentration camp and received the Congressional Medal of Honor, one Silver Star, five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Surviving are nine sons, David, Oscar, Claude, Marcell, Nelson, Ike, and Adrian Chandler, Jr., and Bill Rhinehart and Lindar Rhinehart; seven daughters, Dixie Barnes, Teressa McClish, Helen Ryder, Sharon Khardji, Phyllis Kay Burcher, Jackie Warren and Lois Laverne Gilmore; four brothers, Otho, Ike, Elvis and Rudolph Chandler; 41 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Steven Chandler.' *Double marker with Blanch N. Chandler. Tombstone is inscribed, 'Sgt. USMC WW II.'
