Jan Peterese Stryker farmed in Flatbush and in Jan's will, he left his father's silver hilted sword to his son Peter. He also gave the 7 acre lot of land of his grandfather Jan Strijcker to his son Mighiel.
Jan was one of the Sachems of the old Tammany Society and served in the Kings Co. Militia in 1715.

Jan and Mighifl were cousins and lived on the original seven acre lot of Jan Strijcker in Flatbush Long Island. This was across the street from the Midwout (Flatbush) Dutch Reformed Church that Jan had helped to build. (Jan's grandfather Jan was the construction forman when the church was built.)
Their family Bible gives the record of their family for three generations.

He was one of the Sachems of the Tammany Society. He was a member of Captain Domenicas Vandervere's company, Kings County Militia, in 1715. He resided in Flatbush and seems to have had considerable landed property there.

Jan Pieterse Strycker was born on Aug 6, 1684, and was baptised on Aug 10, 1684 in Flatbush, Kings County, Long Island, New York. He died Aug 17, 1770 in New York at the age of 86.

His first wife was Margarita Schenck, whom he married on Apr 19, 1705. She was baptised on Jun 12, 1687, the daughter of Johannes Schenck and Maria Madgalena De Haes. She died in Aug, 1721.

His second wife was Sara Bergen, whom he married on Feb 17, 1722. She was baptised Jun 2, 1678, the daughter of Michael Hansen Bergen and Femmetje Teunise Nyssen (daughter of Teunis Nyssen). She died Jul 15, 1760 around the age of 82.

Jan Pieterse Strycker was one of the sachems of the Tammany Society.

In 1715, Peter Stryker was a member of Captain Dominicus Vander Veer's company of Kings County militia. (New York Colonial Muster Rolls 1664-1775, Report of the State Historian of the State of New York, Vol 1, page 483)

He resided in Flatbush and seems to have had considerable landed property there, including a tract of land on Church Lane.

His will was dated Oct 4, 1768, and was proved on Sep 15, 1770. It was recorded on page 314, Lib. 27, New York Surrogate's office.

He was buried in the Baptist Reformed Church churchyard.
