Maria was born in Switzerland. Her father was a nobleman. They lived in a castle on the Swiss German border. Charles Henry Stine was her fathers gardener. They loved to talk. fell in love and married. They came to America and her father disowned her. They went to Louisville Ky. and there they had two children. Elizabeth and Henry. They moved to Harrison Co. Indiana and had the rest of their children. August, Sherfield, Emma, Martha, Frank and Charles Edward. We do not know when Charles Henry died. Mary, as she was called in America died July 1902. She was dearly loved by her family. She went from a castle to a log cabin and was very happy.
