He and Florene were friends though a social club they both belonged to. After Florene's husband died in 1984 the friendship blossomed.

Eldon served in World War II as a Warrant Officer.
During WW II he served his county in the army as a machine gunner in heavy weapons. He was awarded the Purple Heart with 2 oak leaf clusters and 7 campaign stars.

He was a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines.

He was a member of Las Palmas Masonic Lodge No. 366 in Fresno, CA and served as its Master in 1983.
