Illinois is where Mark called home.

He spent his entire childhood there where he graduated from Hillsboro High School In 1976 and then from Blackburn University, His beloved alma mater in 1980. While earning his bachelors degree in social science Mark Started his first job as a coal miner for Monterrey coal company. He was a very determined and hard-working man and because of this was recruited into the mechanical craftsman apprenticeship by Exxon Mobil refineries and received his certification in April of 1994. This led to his 25 year career at Exxon working as a mechanical craftsman, volunteer on the fire rescue team, and eventually head of the Exxon safety team.

Accepting the job at Exxon Mobil refineries was the beginning of Mark’s life in Texas. Leaving Illinois with his wife (at the time) Patricia Roberts and six year old daughter Angela Roberts he moved to Baytown in the summer of 1992. In Texas is where Mark spent much of his adult life. He lived here for 26 years where he worked and became a loving and devoted father to his five children.

Simply put but not to be underrated Mark was a good man. He was known for his kindness and generosity, but better known for his sarcasm and wit. He lived for sports and his family, and was the biggest country music fan of all time. He also enjoyed reading science fiction novels, paranormal activity investigations, and his daily naps in the afternoon. Animals were also one of his greatest loves. He had a zoo of dogs and cats whom he adored and created the most beautiful fish tanks of which he took the upmost pride. The newest title he held at the end of his life was Grandpa to four beautiful babies two granddaughters and two grandsons. He will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts forever.
