Adolph (Adolphe) Bissegger was the second child of Andreas (Andrew) Bissegger and Christina Erni Bissegger. He was born in the Canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. In the late 1860's early 1870's he immigrated to the United States with his family. They settled in Cache Valley, Utah. The family lived mainly in Providence.

He met Julia Thornton from Providence. They married in Logan in 1888 and again 1894 then later moved to the Bear Lake (Wardboro) area of Idaho.

Adolph and Julia were the parents of 13 children--four of whom died soon after birth.
