Daughter of Jonathan Adney and Electa Wealtha Glenn. After the Civil War, her eldest brother, Col. W. H. G. Adney, made it possible for her to attend the Western College for Women, at Oxford, Ohio. She was married to James Warren DeLay on 26 Apr 1873 in Maryville, Nodaway Co, MO. When she died, she was the last surviving member of the nine Adney children.

MRS. ELLA DeLAY DEAD.

Mrs. Ella Adney DeLay died Friday afternoon at 12;30 o'clock at her home, 1019 Exchange. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Methodist Church. Rev. C. L. Hovgard, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery.
