BURLINGTON - Ms. Betty Lou Rumley Maness, 77, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 at her home after several months of failing health.
Born in Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late Richard Manley Rumley and the late Peggy Alean Price Rumley. She was a retired CPA, employed as a civilian contractor for several naval bases along the east coast.
Ms. Maness is survived by a daughter, Sherry Groce Dobzenski and husband Alex, of Burlington; son, Travis William Groce of Willow Springs, N.C.; four grandchildren, Angela Lee Eanes and husband Michael of Greensboro, Sharon Reneé Dobzenski of Carrollton, Texas, Gary Dean Dobzenski of Burlington and Cody William Groce of Winona, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Donald Rumley and Richard Rumley, both of Browns Summit, Bobby Rumley of Gibsonville and Jack Rumley of Reidsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Tonya Reneé Dobzenski Goodwin.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bobby Fann. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Thursday evening at the funeral home and at other times at the daughter's residence, 4115 Boone Lane, Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
