Jean Ellen Annable McGrew, of McHenry, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, surrounded by her family.
She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Jean loved unconditionally and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jean was admired for her years as a pastor's wife and wonderful teacher, as well as for her creative expression in poetry.
She has four published works: Ponderings, Grief Ponderings, From My Healing Basket and All Nature Sings.
She was a 26-year post-liver transplant survivor and an avid proponent of organ donation. She was a 13-year cancer survivor. During chemotherapy, Claude Monet's famous bridge painting so inspired her that, once in remission, she went to Paris to walk across that bridge herself.
Survivors include her sister, Lois (Dave) Rupert; her children, Marcia (Mike) McLeland, Scott (Heather) McGrew and David (Joan) Smith; her grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Kyle McLeland and Connor, Cole, Brenna McGrew; in addition to many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Christian Fellowship Church, 3419 Walkup Road, Crystal Lake.
