DEATHS
Died, at the residence of his son, Mr. Frank Goetz, at Hoisington, Kas., October 22, of heart failure, Mr. Nicholas Goetz, aged 80 years, 1 month and 18 days.
About two weeks ago Mr. Goetz went to Kansas, where he expected to make his future home with his son. He had lived in this city for many years, and since the death of his wife, which occurred about seven years ago, had made his home with his daughters, Mrs. Frank Kriehn and Mrs. A.T. Johnson.

He was born in Alsace-Loraine, in 1818, when that country belonged to France. He was a Frenchman, and proud of his birth. His parents were quite wealthy, and he inherited aristocratic ways that never left him. When misfortune over took him, and his fortune took flight, he did not know how to make another, but did know how to endure his loss with but little complaint.
He was well educated; was a lover of history, and was well posted in such matters, and loved to talk of his early days. He never forgave Germany for whipping his beloved France, and, worst of all, for keeping Alsace-Loraine.

His health was good, and no thought of death entered his mind. He was vigorous in mind and body till the very moment when death struck him, when he fell, and in a moment all was over.
His remains were brought to this city Sunday, and on Monday were buried beside the body of his wife, in Machpelah, Rev. Richard Ellerby conducting the services. He leaves a son, two daughters and many grandchildren to mourn his death.
