Celebration of Life for Mr. Jimmy Paul Norton, 69, of Ringling, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at the Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Raymond Norton officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home and Crematory of Wilson.
Jimmy was born May 19, 1943, to Mr. J.B. Norton and Mrs. Pauline Onetta (Hacker) Norton at Union City, Oklahoma, and was the oldest of nine children. He departed this life Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Jimmy was raised in the Wilson and Lone Grove area most of his life. He graduated from Pernell High School in 1961. Jimmy began a career in truck driving which he started in the oil field and later cross country hauling freight. He was most recently employed with Lyndal Vanbuskirk Trucking. Jimmy married Elizabeth "Liz" Acox on January 15, 1998, at Healdton, Oklahoma. Together they made their home in Ringling. Jimmy enjoyed fishing and joyfully spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, J.B. Norton, December 30, 1998, and Pauline Norton, February 11, 1995; and brothers, Eddie Norton, December 1, 1976, and Lonnie Norton, March 12, 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Norton of the home; three sons, Jay Paul Norton and wife, Cathy of Ardmore, Okla., Terry Dewayne Norton of Wilson, Okla., and Billy Joe Norton of Lone Grove, Okla.; sisters, Millie Sweeten of Ardmore, Okla., Carolyn Carter of Pauls Valley, Okla., and Gloria Gothard and husband, Benny of Lone Grove, Okla.; brothers, Johnny Norton and wife, Gwen of Wilson, Okla., Ricky Norton and wife, Carolyn of Lone Grove, Okla., and Sam Norton and wife, Stephanie of Plainview, Okla.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; special sister-in-law, Angela Norton of Norman, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews and loved ones.
Honorary pallbearers are all of his nephews.
