Gladys Eckhoff, 94, of Wellsburg, passed away September 15, 2012 at the Ackley Presbyterian Village in Ackley, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the First Christian Reformed Church in rural Wellsburg. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Gladys was born on December 18, 1917 in rural Grundy County. She was the daughter of Albert and Hilka (Tjaden) Geerdes. She was raised in Wellsburg and graduated from Wellsburg High School with the class of 1934. Gladys was united in marriage to Herman Eckhoff on December 13, 1939 at the First Christian Reformed Church parsonage. They enjoyed many wonderful years together until Herman's death on August 6, 1975.

Gladys was very active in her church and the Timothy Christian School Ladies Society.
Gladys is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman; her sisters Tilda Hook, Vera Ackerman and Thelma Slinker; and her brothers Jake and Wayne Geerdes.
