Marilyn E. (Hickey) Delaney of Hingham, passed away Sept. 15, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was 81. Marilyn grew up in Roslindale and later lived in Hyde Park and Weymouth until settling in Hingham four years ago. She retired from the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston after 31 years. Marilyn enjoyed shopping, dining out, spending holidays with family and summers in New Hamphire. She was a quiet woman with a strong presence and an adventurous spirit. Her ability to overcome lifes obstacles and illnesses earned her the nickname Iron Lady among family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Delaney; loving mother of Karen Doherty and her late husband George of Duxbury, Lyn Delaney and her partner Donna Roux of Quincy, James F. Delaney Jr. of Arizona and Dale McMahon and her husband Brian of Hyde Park; loving sister of Diane Linfield and her husband Charlie of Avon and Jack Harrington of Florida; cherished Nana of John, Shannan, Nancy, Sean, Emma and Molly. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home, at 809 Main St. (Rte. 18 opposite South Shore Hospital), South Weymouth. Funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marilyn may be made to South Shore Hospital Charitable Foundation, c/o the Cancer Center, 55 Fogg Road, Weymouth, MA 02190.
