James C. Hicks, 92, Henderson, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.
He was born in Henderson to James Coleman and Elsie Kockritz Hicks on April 16, 1919.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Force and graduated from Boeing Aircraft School. He served as a crew chief to a B-17 Bomber named "The Dutchess." He was also a farmer and member of Bellfield Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis Jean Duncan; his sister, Marie Freeman; his brother, Thomas Hicks; and an infant son.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Richardson, Gloria Jean Lemmons and Julie Marie Haire, all of Henderson; one son, James C. Hicks Jr. of Henderson; seven grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Brother Basinger will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be George White, J.C. Hicks, Mike Scott, Cleatus Jackson, Mike Crafton and Steve Reed.
