HALL - Eleanor "Jean", on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Scott/White Hospital in Temple, TX, entered into eternal rest.

Eleanor Jean Hall was born August 29, 1931 to Alma and Hershel Wilson, in Chandlerville, IL.

Jean attended Woodruff High School and Peoria Business College in Peoria, IL, and subsequently worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company. While working for Caterpillar, she met Ron E. Hall, a junior year student at Bradley University in Peoria. On the first day of spring, March 21, 1953 Ron and Jean were married in the Methodist Church in Peoria and began their life's adventure.

During their 54 years of marriage, Ron and Jean traveled extensively, and moved frequently, but chose to settle in retirement at their beloved and beautiful 5H ranch in Burton, where Jean relished every moment of her life as a rancher! She came to love this community and its many activities, and she was always very concerned about people less fortunate than herself, wanting to make a difference when she could. No one has ever met a lady who loved animals, and especially horses, more than Jean Hall. Her delight was to talk about her travels with Ron, her children, grandsons, as well as her many adventures on trail rides and equestrian events.

Jean was a long time member of the Gulf Coast Belles Equestrian Club, and thrilled to share about how she once rode in full cowgirl attire with the flag, to open the Houston Fat Stock Show and Rodeo.

Predeceased by her parents, Jean is mourned by: her beloved husband, Ron E. Hall of Burton; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Debbie Hall of Dallas, Michael E. and Kay Lyn Hall of Houston; and daughter, Linda K. Goodrich of San Marcos. Also, grandsons, Ryan E. and Troy D. Hall of Dallas and Ronald B. and Daniel Sean Goodrich of San Marcos; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Betty and Jim Bennett, Margaret and Gene Hoffard, and Loretta and Clarence Ku; and beloved housekeeper/friend/caregiver, Carlita Self.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2008, at St. John's United Church of Christ (516 Colorado Street) in Burton, TX with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. A celebration of Jean's life will follow at the Brenham Country Club, 4107 Highway 105 E, Brenham, TX. It was Jean's request that memorials be sent to the Building Fund at St. John's UCC, PO Box 180, Burton, Texas or to "Piece Way" (a ministry helping people in Washington County needing upgraded living conditions), Bethany Christian Church, PO Box 130, Burton, TX 77835.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main Street, Brenham, TX.
