Michael David Holifield, age 34, of Seabrook, Texas died Friday, September 14, 2012 in his second parents' home in Clear Lake, Texas following a 17 month battle with brain cancer.

Michael was born January 19, 1978 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to Mary Jo and Brooks Holifield. He was the fifth of eight children. He married the love of his life, Sheila Brown Holifield in Vernon, Texas in April, 2005 and became the step-father of children, Jessica Paige Holifield, Monica Marie Holifield and Alex Holifield. After moving to Baytown and then Dickenson, Texas with his new family, Michael proudly completed a doctorate at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas. It was while he was studying for State Boards and moving from a Hurricane Ike damaged home that the glioblastoma multiforme made itself known.

Michael was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Dickenson, Texas and only missed services when he was either hospitalized or too sick from treatments. His greatest disappointment was not having been able to complete the State Boards that would have allowed him to practice the profession he loved. God love him, he used humor that was often darker than some people understood and he loved movies and video games. He wanted to swim more than his disability allowed; however, he had an amazing time on his Dream Foundation Trip to Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Epcot just three weeks prior to his death.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Sheila and children: Jessica, Monica and Alex; siblings: Stuart Holifield and wife, Karyn; William Holifield; Thomas Holifield and wife Melissa; Mary Boujaoude and husband Ralph; Patricia Weertz and husband John; Matthew Holifield and Miranda; and, Victoria Holifield. He is also survived by parents Mary Jo Holifield; Brooks Holifield and parents Dianne and W. Fred McGuire of Clear Lake as well as Sheila's parents Dr. Harold Brown and wife Patricia of Vernon, TX. Michael has numerous nieces and nephews and had a special bond with Molly, Tibbett, Dr. Wattson and Bear who provided lots and lots of pet therapy.

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday evening between 6-8 PM at Niday Funeral Home located at 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Burial following the funeral service will be at Grand View Memorial Park located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505.
