George served his country during World War II, as a Crew Chief on C47's in the European Theather. He retired from American Coupling in 1988.
George was a great family man and a good provider. He was a member of Akron First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and a private pilot.
Preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Adelaide Polumbo Varrecchia; his beloved wife, Susan; he is survived by sons, Thomas (Beate) of Fredrick, Md., James (Melissa) of Clinton; grandchildren, Greg Lease, Jennifer, Sarah, Craig, and Marina Varrecchia; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Romeo; sisters, Vera Long and Adalaine Fleshman.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Schlup-Pucak Funeral Chapel, 788 Kenmore Blvd., where friends may call 11 a.m. until time of service, with Pastor Jerry Chase officiating. Burial at Manchester Cemetery, where Firestone Post 3383 VFW will hold Military Honors.
