According to "A Leighton genealogy : descendants of Thomas Leighton of Dover, New Hampshire" by Leighton, Perley M; Cornman, Julia Leighton, 1852-1921; Elizabeth L "Lizzie" Carter was b. 17 Apr 1853 and died in 1923. She was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah [Lambert] Carter.

Additional research needed to determine which date/year of birth is correct.

Mrs. Lizzie Leighton m. Amos Abbott 28 Jun 1887, Deering ME [parents names not listed on marriage record].

The 1900 census record for Amos & Lizzie L. Abbott in Portland ME includes Lizzie's children by first marriage; Dora B. McIntosh with her children Marshall A. & Donald W. McIntosh; and Marshall P. Leighton.

OBITUARY
Mrs. Elizabeth L. Abbott, wife of Amos Abbott, died yesterday at her home., 1164 Washington Avenue, after a long illness. She was seventy four years of age.

Mrs. Abbott has lived most of her life in Portland and Falmouth. She is survived by her husband, who for years conducted a store at Allen's Corner, and is ninety-two years of age. A daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Dora McIntosh, widow of Charles McIntosh, former patrolman, also survives, and a brother, George Carter of Portland.
