Emigrated to Oregon in 1852. His neice, Lorena A Kent (later Owings - see Find A Grave Memorial# 98415007) emigrated to Oregon with the family. Later her father (Robert, brother of Lewis) also emigrated to Oregon.

"Reminiscences of an Old Timer" by Colonel George Hunter; published by H.S. Crocker, San Francisco and Company, 1887, mentions the family briefly.

Drowned crossing the river after going to town to obtain medicine for his children
