Professionally, Dr. Ruth Anne Johnson (Funk) was a singer, psychologist and professor. She served on the board of directors of local charities, and was Executive Director (later Chairman) of the Mental Health Association of Onondaga County. She practiced psychology at the Robert G Soule Clinic, in private practice and elsewhere. She was listed in American Men of Science (1968), Who's Who of American Women (1974) and Two Thousand Women of Achievement (1972). Her last job was teaching speech and drama at Barry University's Brevard campus in the late 1980s to early 1990s.

In the 1940s she sang with [Somebody's] Varsity Coeds (who once opened for the Mills Brothers), and with a male singing partner (Rick?), probably under the stage name Anne Jensen. Later, as Ruth Anne Funk and then as Anne Johnson, she wrote plays, music and lyrics in metro Syracuse NY and Brevard County, Florida. Musical revues written and performed in Syracuse included DeManleyville '65 and They'd Rather Be Right (1968). She also wrote a science fiction thriller play called The Consumers, circa 1972. She won two awards in Florida for her one-act plays.

Born Ruth Louise Johnson of Stratford, CT. Daughter of Ambrose Alexis Johnson and Flora DuFour Johnson, sister of Flora M. Johnson. Mother of Steven Eric Funk of Cleveland, OH (3/25/50 to 9/6/2014) and Karen Christine Funk Blocher of Tucson, Arizona (born 3/10/57). She was divorced from Dr. Frank E Funk in 1976, and did not remarry.
