James Warren "Bunk" Whitlock , 94, of Roanoke, passed to his heavenly home on Friday, September 14, 2012. He was born on Friday, May 13, 1918, in Blacksburg to the late Warren Cline Whitlock and Allie Mae Morehead Whitlock. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby Gaynelle Hogan Whitlock; two sons, Jerry Whitlock (infant), and Douglas Lee Whitlock; granddaughter, Katie Marie Whitlock; and uncle, A.P. Morehead, who helped raise him after his dad passed away when he was six years old.
He worked in the automobile industry at Renick Motor Co., Cutts Pontiac, and Goodwin-Williams Chevrolet. In 1960, he founded Custom Seat Cover Shop until his retirement in 1985 when his son Mike took over.
Services will be conducted at Lotz Salem Chapel on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Danny Holdren. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 16, 2012, from 4 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Katie's Place for Persons with Special Needs, which is named in honor of his Granddaughter Katie Marie Whitlock.
