On a beautiful spring day in Eufaula, Oklahoma on April 12, 1912, a beautiful baby girl, Johnnie Mae, was born to Ed and Lizzie Edwards, the youngest daughter of eighteen children and the last of her generation. She had a great childhood with her sisters and brothers who preceded her in death. She attended school in Wagoner County. Johnnie Mae went to be with her Lord Friday evening, September 14, 2012, at the age of 100 years. Johnnie Mae accepted Christ into her life at an early age at First Baptist Church in Okay, Oklahoma. She was an active member. She met and united in holy matrimony with Richard Bell, Sr. (who preceded her in death). To this union was born two sons, Richard (who preceded her in death ) and Arthur who remains in the home. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she met and married Samuel Bowden. She attend a church there and was an active member including the auxiliary Eastern Star. She and her husband returned to her roots in Okay and made their home. Both were active members at First Baptist Church under the auspices of Reverend Clarence R. Ashley, Sr. Then present husband, Samuel Bowden, also preceded her in death. Johnnie Mae had many hobbies that she enjoyed including fishing, gardening and cooking. She enjoyed family and friends. She will be remembered for her "warm hospitality" wanting to feed everyone who came to her home and most of all her "contagious smile and her soft spoken love." She leaves to mourn in the comfort and care of her loving Father and Savior Jesus Christ; her son, Arthur, who played out the most beautiful act of love, standing by her when she was well and caring for her when she became ill "a wonderful son", eight grandchildren, Denitta Boyd (Darrel), Rick Bell (who preceded her in death), Terry Blaylock (Kenny), Marcus Bell (Debra), Arthur Armstrong (Kapriska), Roderick Jackson, Michelle Bell and Vincent Bell; thirteen great grandchildren, eighteen great-great grandchildren; a nephew, Leo Edwards and a host of great nieces and nephews as well as spiritual sons and daughters.
